| This instrument designed to make an elementary study of optical activity substances. The polar meter consists of two Polaroid’s, one of which acts as a polarizes and the other as an analyzer. Light is passed from the polarize to the analyzer from a lamp which, if desired can be replaced by a simple reflector provided at the base which can be rotated to make use of daylight. If however, the lamp is to a 12 volts D.C or A.C supply using 4mm sockets is provided for the purpose. The movement of the analyzer can be measured with the help of a circular scale graduated in degrees. |
