| The Transfer Chamber has been designed to give an area in which the transfer, plating out and subculturing of micro-organisms can take place thus minimizing the risk of contamination of cultures and also of the laboratory by bacteria or fungal spores, which can lead to improved experimental techniques and more reliable results. The chamber is made of stove-enamelled sheet steel with aluminium fittings, including a removable front
flap, an angled front window and a large rear window.An aluminium chimney and glass wool filter are set in the top of the chamber and a recess is provided in thechamber floor so that a burner may be positioned directly under the chimney to create convection
currents to drive spores up into the filter.A shielded bacteriocidal u.v. lamp (available
separately) may be fitted below the top panel and can be used to sterilize the working surface if switched on for a few minutes before use. It may also be used to irradiate cultures to induce mutations for population and genetics studies. Supplied without UV Lamp and Burner.
